Command Biography
2D MAW Command Master Chief
CMDCM(FMF/SW/AW/IW) Augustine C. Cooper

Master Chief Cooper is a native of Oklahoma.  He enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1992.  Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL he reported to Naval Training Center, where he completed apprenticeship training.

Upon graduation, he reported for duty onboard the USS CAMDEN (AOE 2) as an undesignated Seaman.  He completed two Western Pacific deployments and advanced to Yeoman Second Class.

His fleet assignments include Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron FOUR, Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN, and Electronic Attack Squadron ONE THREE TWO.  In addition, Master Chief Cooper completed shore assignments at Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, Florida A&M University, and as the Washington D.C./Millington, TN Shore Special Programs Detailer.   

In 2013, he was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program and advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer.  His previous Command Master Chief tours were onboard USS HOPPER (DDG 70), Navy Information Operations Command, Georgia, USS ESSEX (LHD 2) and he is currently serving as the Command Master Chief for 2D Marine Aircraft Wing, MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina.

Master Chief Cooper holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Psychology from Florida A&M University, Magna Cum Laude.  He is also a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 159 Gold) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 130).

Master Chief Cooper’s personal qualifications and awards include the Enlisted Surface Warfare, Enlisted Aviation Warfare and the Enlisted Information Warfare; two Meritorious Service Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various unit and campaign awards.
