In May 1990, Sergeant Major Vealey entered recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.  Upon completion of recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training and the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, NC.  Sergeant Major Vealey was then transferred to Marine Security Force Training Battalion, Chesapeake, VA, for training as an 8152, Marine Security Force Guard.

In December 1990, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to Marine Security Force Company, Yorktown, VA, where he served as a Marine Security Force Guard.



In April 1992, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to Echo Company, 2d Battalion, 4th Marines, Camp Lejeune, NC.  2d Battalion, 4th Marines, was later re-designated as 2d Battalion, 6th Marines.  Sergeant Major Vealey participated in the Unit Deployment Program, Kings Guard training cadre, Operation Sea Signal, Operation Deny Flight, and Operation Decisive Endeavor.

In August 1996, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Parris Island, SC.  Sergeant Major Vealey worked numerous billets on Chosin Rifle Range. 

In July 1998, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, Camp Pendleton, CA.   While assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, Sergeant Major Vealey deployed with the 11th MEU/SOC and the 15th MEU/SOC, and took part in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Swift Freedom.

In March 2001, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to 3d Intelligence Battalion, Okinawa, Japan, for duty as Training Chief, Battalion S-3.  Sergeant Major Vealey was later re-assigned as the Headquarters Company, Company Chief.   

In October 2004, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to Marine Forces Reserve, Site Support, Camp Del Mar, Camp Pendleton, CA for independent duty as the Operations and Training Chief.  During his tour Sergeant Major Vealey was re-assigned as the Operations Officer.  

In October 2006, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to 2d Battalion, 5th Marines, Camp Pendleton, CA for duty as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Echo Company, and deployed to Ar Ramadi, Iraq.

In January 2008, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Forces Pacific, Camp Smith, HI for duty as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Headquarters Company.

In March 2008, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy, MCB Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, HI where he served as the Director.

In April 2010, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to 2d Battalion, 3d Marines, MCB Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, HI where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company, and deployed to the Nawa District, Afghanistan.

In April 2011, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to Headquarters and Service Battalion, MCB Quantico, VA where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Combat Development Company. 

In May 2013, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 3, MCB Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, HI where he served as the Battalion Sergeant Major.

In July 2015, Sergeant Major Vealey reported to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2, MCAS Cherry Point, NC where he currently serves as the Squadron Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Vealey’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of 2nd award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star in lieu of 2nd award.
