Matthew Glavy (right) listen during a meet-and-greet at the city hall in Havelock, N.C., Aug. 9, 2016. Col. Todd Ferry, commanding officer for Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, also attended as a representative. “It is important to make a connection with the community, especially when it comes to our children’s education,” said Glavy. Glavy also stated he attended the meet-and-greet because he values the relationship between the Marines and the kids in the community. “We are fortunate to have the military influence on the surrounding area because it brings culture to our school system,” said Doyle.
