Gunnery Sergeant Ronald A. Orange

Gunnery Sergeant Ronald A. Orange enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2002 and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. After graduating the Basic Musician Course at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, VA, GySgt Orange reported to Marine Band San Diego, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA. There he served as saxophone instrumentalist and was assigned to the duties of squad leader, and sound technician. In 2007, GySgt Orange was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps.

In 2008, GySgt Orange was accepted back into the Marine Corps on active duty and reported to the Quantico Marine Corps Band, Quantico, VA.  There he served as saxophone section leader, squad leader, Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of sound, library clerk, urinalysis program coordinator, and Acting Small Ensemble Leader.  In 2010, GySgt Orange returned to the Naval School of Music and attended the Sound Reinforcement Course. Upon completion, he returned to the Quantico Marine Corps Band, continuing to serve as Acting Small Ensemble Leader.

In 2011, GySgt Orange returned to the Naval School of Music and attended the Unit Leader Course. Upon completion of the Unit Leader Course, he was selected to serve on staff at the Naval School of Music and was assigned as a Basic Music Course Instructor. While there, he also served as the Substance Abuse Officer for the Marine Detachment. In 2014, GySgt Orange was assigned to the Marine Forces Pacific Band where he served as the saxophone section leader, woodwind section commander, Operations Chief, and Assistant Drum Major. In 2015, GySgt Orange was selected for a lateral move from saxophone instrumentalist to Drum Major and was assigned as the Band’s Drum Major.

In 2017, GySgt Sergeant Orange was assigned to the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band to serve as Drum Major. He was then assigned in 2018 as the Headquarters and Service Company, III MEF Support Battalion Operations Chief. GySgt Orange was hand selected to be part of the Command Element, Marine Rotational Force-Darwin 20.1, where he served in S-3 as the Current Operations Chief. In 2019, GySgt Orange deployed to Darwin, Australia to serve in this capacity. Upon his return from Darwin, Australia, Gunnery Sergeant Orange was assigned as Company Gunnery Sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company, III MEF Support Battalion.

GySgt Orange’s current assignment began in 2020, where he reported to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band, where he is serving as Operations Chief.

GySgt Orange holds an Associate’s Degree in General Studies, and is currently working towards his Bachelor’s in Business Management from American Military University.

GySgt Orange’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd award), Navy Unit Commendation (2nd award), Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd award), Good Conduct Medal (5th award), National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
