Warrant Officer Jarrid T. Riggs

Warrant Officer Riggs is a native of Virginia. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in November of 2003 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. He subsequently reported to the Naval School of Music located at Virginia Beach, Virginia where he completed the Basic Music Course. 
 
Upon completion of training, he was assigned to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Band at Twenty-nine Palms, California where he served as a percussion instrumentalist and in various other billets to include Percussion Section Leader, Transportation Non-commissioned Officer in Charge, Squad Leader and Assistant Enlisted Conductor.
 
In November 2008, then Sergeant Riggs, was assigned as an Academics Instructor at the Naval School of Music, Virginia Beach, Virginia.  Additional billets during that tour included Substance Abuse Control Officer, and Assistant Percussion Instructor. Upon a successful tour, he then attended the Unit Leader Course also located at the Naval School of Music. 
 
Staff Sergeant Riggs was then assigned to Marine Band San Diego at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California as a Percussion Instrumentalist. During that tour he also had opportunity to serve as Enlisted Conductor, Drum Major, Rhythm Group Leader, and Music Library Staff Non-commissioned Officer in Charge. 
 
In October 2014, he then returned to the Naval School of Music where he served as Percussion Instructor, Percussion Branch Head, Training Staff Non-commissioned Officer in Charge, and Substance Abuse Control Officer. Then Gunnery Sergeant Riggs, he subsequently attended the Senior Musician Course and upon completion remained at the Naval School of Music to serve as the Marine Detachment Gunnery Sergeant and Administrative Chief. During that time he was selected for Warrant Officer.
 
In January 2020, he attended the Warrant Officer Basic Course at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia and in February 2020 was appointed to his current rank. After graduation in the top ten percent of his class, Warrant Officer Riggs was assigned to his current billet as Officer in Charge of 2d Marine Aircraft Wing Band.
 
Warrant Officer Riggs' personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star).
