Major Shaw enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 2002. Upon completion of MOS training as an Aviation Ordnance Technician in June 2003, LCpl Shaw was assigned to VMFA-212. As an Aviation Ordnance Technician, she acquired Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) and Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO) qualifications and achieved a Meritorious promotion to Sergeant.
Sergeant Shaw attended Drill Instructor School in March 2006, serving as a Drill Instructor and Senior Instructor from July 2006 to August 2009 within 4th Battalion, Oscar Company. During this time, she also fulfilled the duties of Processing Drill Instructor with Support Battalion and was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant in January 2008.
In August 2009, Staff Sergeant Shaw was assigned to VMFA-122, where she was recertified as an Aviation Ordnance Technician, with CDI and QASO qualifications. In 2010, she deployed with VMFA-122 to Kandahar, Afghanistan, as part of the International Security Assistance Force in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During her deployment, she served as a Quality Assurance Representative and platoon sergeant for all Fallen Hero Ceremonies. She also provided support at the ROLE 3 medical facility at Kandahar Airfield. Staff Sergeant Shaw was selected for the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and starting in the fall of 2011, she attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where she achieved the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
Gunnery Sergeant Shaw earned a BS in Aeronautics with minors in Homeland Security and Aviation Safety. She commissioned in December 2013 and graduated from The Basic School in December 2014 with the Unmanned Aircraft Systems MOS.
After Remotely Piloted Aircraft Initial Flight Training, and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Instrument Qualification and Fundamentals, Second Lieutenant Shaw completed RQ-7B Formal Training aboard MCAS Cherry Point in December 2015, achieving the MOS of an Unmanned Aircraft System Pilot.
In January 2016, First Lieutenant Shaw was assigned to VMU-2, where she served as an RQ-7B and RQ-21A pilot. While serving at VMU-2, she deployed on the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and held the billets of S-1 Officer, Avionics Officer, S-4 Officer, Airspace Coordinator, RQ-21A Program Manager, and NATOPS Evaluator.
In June 2019, Captain Shaw was assigned to VMU-1, where she served as an RQ-21A pilot and transitioned to pilot the MQ-9A. While serving at VMU-1, she graduated the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course and held billets of Pilot Training Officer, Director of Safety and Standardization, and Weapons and Tactics Officer in Charge.
Captain Shaw graduated from resident Expeditionary Warfare School in June 2022 and reported to VMUT-2, where she was promoted to Major and served as an MQ-9A Pilot and held the billets of Operations Officer and Executive Officer.
