MWHS-2 Command Senior Enlisted Leader
Sergeant Major Alexander J. Bruffy

Sergeant Major Bruffy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 21 January 2005 from Kennedale, Texas. He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego and Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton. He earned the MOS 7251, Air Traffic Control Trainee at NAS Pensacola, Florida.

In January 2006, Sergeant Major Bruffy received orders to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California and earned the MOS 7257, Air Traffic Control Specialist, after qualifying on clearance delivery and Radar Final Control. In April 2006, he was designated as a Radar Watch Supervisor and in February 2010, Sergeant Major Bruffy completed his tour at MCAS Miramar and earned the additional MOS of 7252 as a Certified Tower Operator.

In March 2010, Sergeant Major Bruffy reported to Marine Air Traffic Control Detachment (MATCD) Alpha, Marine Air Control Squadron 2, Beaufort, South Carolina and assisted Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort's Air Traffic Control Facility. While at the ATC Facility he qualified as an Arrival/Approach controller and earned the additional MOS of 7253 and 7254. In May of 2011, he deployed with MATCD Bravo, Marine Air Control Squadron 2 (FWD) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Sergeant Major Bruffy served as a Watch Commander at Camp Dwyer and a Marine Mobile Air Traffic Control Team (MMT) leader at Combat Outpost Ouellette, Afghanistan.

In October 2012, Sergeant Major Bruffy attended Marine Mobile Air Traffic Control Team, Instructor Course at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona. In December 2012, he reported back to the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort ATC Facility and served as a Certified Tower Operator until January 2013. He then deployed with Marine Air Control Group 28 (FWD) to Forward Operating Base Payne, Afghanistan as an MMT Leader. Sergeant Major Bruffy finished his tour with MACS-2 as MATCD Alpha's Operations Chief.

In January 2014 Sergeant Major Bruffy reported to Recruiter School as a student. In February, he reported to RS Fort Worth, 8MC District, Texas and served as a canvassing recruiter at Recruiting Sub Station (RSS) Mansfield and was the FY15 Recruiter of the year. In November 2014 he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and completed his tour as the SNCOIC of RSS Mansfield.

In March 2017, Sergeant Major Bruffy reported to MCAS Miramar where he served all billets including Crew Chief, Facility Watch Officer, Radar Chief, and Training Chief. In March of 2018 he was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant and received orders to Company A, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines at Camp Pendleton, California. In November 2019, he deployed in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit on the USS GREEN BAY, and the USS GERMANTOWN. In July 2020, he transferred to Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines to assume the duties as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader. In October 2020, he was billeted as the Remain Behind Element (RBE) Sergeant Major for 1st Battalion, 5th Marines during the Battalion minus JTF-N Southwest Border Mission.

In April 2021, Sergeant Major Bruffy was transferred to Company L, Headquarters and Support Battalion, School of Infantry - East, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to assume the billet Unit Senior Enlisted Leader, responsible for the graduation holding, medical rehabilitation, and administrative separations of entry-level Marines. In May of 2022, he assumed the duties of Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for Advanced Infantry Training Company, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry - East. In March 2023 he was frocked to Sergeant Major and transferred to HMLA-167, MAG 29, 2d MAW on MCAS New River, NC. On 15 August 2024, he transferred to Cherry Point to serve in his current assignment as Command Senior Enlisted Leader of Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2, 2d MAW.

Sergeant Major Bruffy has a bachelor's degree in Organizational Management, from the University of Arizona Global Campus. His personal decorations are as follows: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars in lieu of fifth award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
