HMH-464 Executive Officer
Major Alex J. Albrecht

Maj Albrecht is a native of Grand Rapids, MI. He graduated from East Kentwood High School in 2003 and enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve. Pvt Albrecht attended boot camp and SOI on the West Coast, where he graduated as the machine gunner honor graduate and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of PFC. PFC Albrecht enrolled in the PLC program in February 2004 and attended PLC juniors in the summer of 2004, where he received the Battalion Commanders Award for physical fitness. In 2004, Maj Albrecht attended Grand Rapids Community College and, in 2006, transferred to Grand Valley State University, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.  

Cpl Albrecht deployed to Fallujah, Iraq, supporting OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM from September 2006 to April 2007, with A Co 1/24. Sgt Albrecht attended PLC seniors in 2008 and received his commission on 8 August 2009. 2ndLt Albrecht reported to The Basic School as part of Charlie Company, Basic Officers Course 3­10. 2ndLt Albrecht graduated in the top five percent and received the Iron Mike award. 2ndLt Albrecht then reported to MATSG-21 for flight training. Upon completion of API, 1stLt Albrecht received orders to NAS Whiting Field for Primary training in the T-6B with VT-6. Upon completing Primary training, 1stLt Albrecht reported to HT-8 for Advanced training. In May 2013, he completed Advanced flight training, graduated on the Commodores list with distinction, and was designated a Naval Aviator.

1stLt Albrecht then reported to HMHT­302, MCAS New River for training in the CH-53E. In December of 2013, Capt Albrecht reported to HMH­461. Capt Albrecht deployed to Honduras as part of SPMAGT-SC from June to November 2015. After returning from the deployment, Capt Albrecht completed Tactical Air Control Party School at Little Creek Norfolk, VA. Capt Albrecht then reported to 3d Battalion, 6th Marines, as a Forward Air Controller. In October 2016, V3/6 became activated, sailed to Haiti, and conducted HADR operations to support Hurricane Matthew's relief effort. Capt Albrecht deployed with V3/6 on the 24th MEU from March 2017 to September 2017. Upon returning from the 24th MEU, Capt Albrecht received orders back to HMH-461. In the summer of 2019, he checked into VMM-365 as the HMH-461 Det WTI. During the work-up, Maj Albrecht conducted HADR operations supporting the Bahamas following the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. Maj Albrecht deployed with the 26 MEU from December 2019 to June 2020.

In 2020, Maj Albrecht PCSd to Kansas and started the Army Command and General Staff Officer College in Fort Leavenworth, KS. In July 2021, he was assigned to 1st Marine Raider Battalion as the Battalion Air Officer. While at 1MRB, Maj Albrecht took part in Balikatan 2023, a bilateral exercise with the Philippines. In July of 2023, Maj Albrecht received orders HMH-464 where he took over as the squadron's Operations Officer. He then assumed the billet of Executive Officer in July of 2024.

Maj Albrecht’s personal awards include two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, one with combat "v", combat Action Ribbon, and Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal.
