MASS-1 Command Senior Enlisted Leader
Sergeant Major Paul J. Vee Jr.

Sergeant Major Vee enlisted in the Marine Corps on 8 May 2001 and underwent recruit training at First Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Upon graduation, Private Vee was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class and reported to Marine Combat Training (MCT) aboard Camp Pendleton, California. Following MCT, Private First Class Vee was subsequently assigned the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 1391 Bulk Fuel Specialist and went on to attend Bulk Fuel Engineer School at Fort Lee, Virginia. Upon completion, Private First Class Vee was recognized as the Honor Graduate and received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 372, Marine Wing Support Group 37, 3D Marine Aircraft Wing, Camp Pendleton, California.

In September 2001, Lance Corporal Vee was assigned to Airfield Operations Company where he served as a Bulk Fuel Engineer Specialist and assistant Training Noncommissioned Officer (NCO). In January 2003, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and was later meritoriously promoted to Corporal on 2 February 2003.

In March 2004, Corporal Vee transferred to Bulk Fuel Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3D Marine Logistics Group, Camp Hansen, Japan and served as the Quality Control Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC). On 2 November 2004, Corporal Vee was meritoriously promoted to Sergeant and went on to serve as the Platoon Sergeant and Quality Control NCOIC for the remainder of his tour. In May of 2005, he relocated back with MWSS-372 assuming duties as the Platoon Sergeant and Training NCOIC. In August of 2005, Sergeant Vee deployed to Iraq again in support of OIF.

In April of 2007, Sergeant Vee reported to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation, he was assigned to Charlie Company, First Recruit Training Battalion, where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Company Operations Chief. On 1 October 2009, Sergeant Vee was promoted to Staff Sergeant.

In August 2010, Staff Sergeant Vee executed orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 3, Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3D Marine Logistics Group, Marine Corps Base, Hawaii and was assigned as the Fuels Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC) for Engineer Platoon. In January 2011, he reported to Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Career Course Class 2-11 in Okinawa, Japan and was later recognized as the Honor Graduate and “Gung Ho” recipient for his class. He also held billets as Engineer Operations Chief, Platoon Commander/SNCOIC, Company Gunnery Sergeant, and Detachment SNCOIC in support of Lava Viper 11.2 during his tenure.

In August 2013, Staff Sergeant Vee received orders to USA Quartermaster School, Marine Corps Detachment aboard Fort Lee, Virginia. He served as a Team Chief and Platform Instructor at the Petroleum and Water School. On 1 September 2015, he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and subsequently selected to augment Officer Candidates School in November 2015 as a Sergeant Instructor and Academics Instructor. Upon his return, he served as the Alpha Company Gunnery Sergeant for the remainder of his term. In June 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Vee reported to Staff Noncommissioned Officers Academy in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Advance Course Class 5-16 and was later recognized as a Distinguished Graduate.

In August 2016, Gunnery Sergeant Vee reported to MWSS-372 for a third time. He deployed twice to Bahrain in support of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Central Command (SPMAGTF-CR-CC) as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for Company C, Security Force during 17.1/17.2 and Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for Company B, Aviation Ground Support during 18.2/19.1. During both deployments, Gunnery Sergeant Vee simultaneously served as the course Assistant Director, SNCOIC, and Chief Instructor for multiple command sponsored Corporals Courses and Lance Corporal Leadership and Ethics Seminars. He was appointed as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for Headquarters and Service Company between deployments and again following the second deployment remaining in the billet until his transfer.

In August 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Vee was frocked to First Sergeant and executed orders to serve as the Inspector-Instructor Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for Company E, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Syracuse, NY. In November 2021, First Sergeant Vee reported to the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 246 in Newport, Rhode Island. Upon completion, he was recognized as a Distinguished Graduate. In March 2023, Sergeant Major Vee was frocked to his current rank and executed orders to Marine Air Support Squadron 1 (MASS-1), Marine Air Command Group 28, 2D Marine Aircraft Wing, Cherry Point, North Carolina.

Sergeant Major Vee's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, and Combat Action Ribbon.
