Command Biography
MASS-1 Executive Officer
Major Thomas C. Hambidge

Major Hambidge completed Officer Candidate Course 199 and commissioned as United States Marine Corps Officer in December of 2008. Upon completion of the The Basic School and Air Support Control Officer Course Major Hambidge reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 2 at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma in July 2011.

From July 2011 to May 2015 Major Hambidge served in numerous billets while assigned to MASS-2 to include Future Operations Officer, Legal Officer, Squadron Adjutant, Air Support Company Executive Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, and Headquarters and Services Company Commander. Additionally, he supported numerous Theater Security Operations in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines.

In June of 2015 Major Hambidge reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 6 Detachment A at MCAS Miramar to assume responsibilities at the reserve detachment Inspector – Instructor Officer-in-Charge. Shortly after checking in to MASS-6 he attended and graduated from Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 1-16. For the next three years he served as the sole active duty officer at the detachment responsible to the MASS-6 CO for all of the detachment’s administrative, maintenance, logistical, and operational planning and performance.

Following his duties with MASS-6, Major Hambidge received permeant Change of Station orders in June 2018 to United States Marine Corps Forces Command located in Norfolk, Virginia. While Assigned to MARFORCOM, Major Hambidge served as the commands subject matter expert on Aviation Command and Control, Aviation Ground Support, and Unmanned Aerial Systems operations. Additionally, he assumed responsibility for overseeing the Aviation Global Force Management Working Group as part of the Service’s quarterly Force Synchronization Conferences.

Following his tour of duty with MARFORCOM, Major Hambidge transfer to Marine Air Support Squadron 1 in July 2021. From July 2021 to July 2023, he served as the Squadron’s Operations Officer. Major Hambidge is currently serving as the Squadron’s Executive Officer.
