2D MAW Command Senior Enlisted Leader
Sergeant Major Rodney E. Nevinger

Sergeant Major Nevinger assumed his current post as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for 2d Marine Aircraft Wing on 21 February 2023. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on April 4, 1998 from Killeen, TX, attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, and completed military occupational training at Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-West, earning the 0311, Riflemen military occupational specialty.

Sergeant Major Nevinger's Fleet Marine Force assignments include: rifleman, platoon sergeant, and company gunnery sergeant, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines; platoon sergeant, 2d Battalion, 1st Marines; unit senior enlisted leader, 3d Law Enforcement Battalion; unit senior enlisted leader and command senior enlisted leader, 3d Marine Raider Battalion; command senior enlisted leader, Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2; command senior enlisted leader, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264; command senior enlisted leader, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 28; command senior enlisted leader, 3d Marine Regiment; command senior enlisted leader, 3d Marine Littoral Regiment; command senior enlisted leader, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing.

Sergeant Major Nevinger's supporting establishment assignments include: drill instructor and senior drill instructor, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego; Assistant Marine Officer Instructor, The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.

Sergeant Major Nevinger's deployments include: WESTPAC, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC); WESTPAC, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC) (OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM / TASK FORCE-58); 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (UNIT DEPLOYMENT PROGRAM-OKINAWA); OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM 9.1.

Sergeant Major Nevinger is PME complete and has also attended the United States Marine Corps Senior Enlisted Professional Military Education Course 2-16, Slated Leaders Orientation Course 1-24, and Keystone 24-2. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (three gold stars in lieu of fourth award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (one gold star in lieu of second award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (one gold star in lieu of second award).
