Command Biography

MACS-2 Executive Officer
Major Ryan C. Brodarick

Major Brodarick was born on May 20th, 1991, in Islip, New York. Following graduation from high school, he received the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship and attended Virginia Tech where he majored in Political Science and minored in Leadership Studies. Upon commissioning in May of 2013, Major Brodarick attended The Basic School and was subsequently assigned to Marine Air Support Squadron 1 (MASS-1) in May of 2014. From July to September of 2014, Major Brodarick attended Air Support Control Officer's Course where he graduated as the Honor Graduate.
 
At MASS-1, Major Brodarick was assigned as the Assistant Logistics Officer, Armory Officer, Environmental Officer, and Safety Officer, overseeing multiple critical programs for the squadron. In November of 2015 Major Brodarick was selected to serve as the Air Support Element Officer in Charge for the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit where he deployed on both the USS WASP and USS SAN ANTONIO, supporting multiple combatant commanders and major operations. Upon return from deployment in December of 2016, Major Brodarick was selected to serve as a Marine Liaison Officer to the 461st Air Control Wing out of Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, where he represented and integrated Marine equities into the Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System program.
 
In August of 2017 Major Brodarick executed orders to Marine Air Support Squadron 2 where he served as the Future Operations Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, Air Support Company Commander, and Operations Officer during his tour. During his time in Okinawa, Major Brodarick led detachments on the Korean Peninsula, in Thailand, and Japan, as well as represented squadron interests in the Philippines, Thailand, and Australia. During this tour, Major Brodarick completed the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course as well as the Blended Seminar for Expeditionary Warfare School, where he was recognized as a Distinguished Graduate.
 
In June of 2020, Major Brodarick was assigned to Manpower Management, Officer Assignments for service as the Aviation Ground Company Grade Monitor. In this role, Major Brodarick managed the career paths and orders assignment for 17 distinct military occupational specialties, providing career input and advice to over 1,450 officers in his population. After two years as the Aviation Ground Company Grade Monitor, Major Brodarick assumed the role of the Assistant Aviation Lieutenant Colonel Monitor, assisting in the management of over 7,000 officers across all aviation occupational fields.
 
Following his tour in Manpower Management, Officer Assignments, Major Brodarick was selected in 2023 to attend the College of Naval Command and Staff in Newport, Rhode Island, where he graduated with a Masters in Defense in Strategic Studies and earned the Victor "Brute" Krulak Award for Writing Excellence.
 
Upon graduation from the College of Naval Command and Staff, Major Brodarick executed orders in June of 2024 back to MASS-1 in Cherry Point, NC for service as the Operations Officer. In July of 2025 Major Brodarick executed orders to Marine Air Control Squadron 2 to serve as the Executive Officer.
 
Major Brodarick's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
