MWSS-271 Command Senior Enlisted Leader
Sergeant Major Kevin P. Cain

Sergeant Major Cain is a native of Oklahoma. He enlisted into the Marine Corps in the fall of 2001. Upon completion of recruit training he attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton Ca with follow-on training for his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 0111 Administration Specialist at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. Sergeant Major Cain's first duty assignment was with Headquarters Company, Regimental Personal Administration Center, 1st Marine Division as a Unit diary clerk. During this tour of duty Sergeant Major Cain deployed to Iraqi with Regimental Combat Team -1 in 2004. Upon returning from deployment Sergeant Major Cain was assigned to Inspector Instructor Staff, Fox Battery, 2d Battalion 14th Marines, 4th Marine Division, Oklahoma City OK as the Unit Diary and Orders Chief. During his tour he was recognized as the 2006 Marine of the Year (MOY) for 4th Marine Division. Sergeant Major Cain's next assignment was with 3d Marine Logistics Group, Okinawa Japan as the Manpower and Personnel Chief. During his tour of duty he was transferred to 9th Engineer Support Battalion for deployment to Afghanistan at Camp Leatherneck in early 2010. Following this assignment Sergeant Major Cain was transferred to Recruiting Station San Diego Ca, for duty as the Recruiting Station Administration Chief. Sergeant Major Cain then volunteered and was accepted for Special Duty Assignment (SDA) as a Detachment Commander on the Marine Security Guard Program where he served as a Detachment Commander at the United States Consulate General in Jerusalem Israel. Upon completion of his first post he was hand selected to return to the Marine Security Guard School for assignment as an Instructor Advisor. Following his duty on the MSG program, Sergeant Major Cain served at Inspector-Instructor Staff, Detachment 4, 4th Tank battalion, 4th Marine Division. Following his tour of duty, Sergeant Major Cain attended the Army Sergeants Major Course, Class 71, Ft. Bliss, El Paso Tx. Upon graduation Sergeant Major Cain was transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 for duty as the Aviation Mobility Company, Unit Senior Enlisted Leader, where he was selected to his current rank of Sergeant Major and transferred to Marine Attack Squadron 231 (VMA-231). On July 6th Sergeant Major Cain transfered to his current post Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

Sergeant Major Cain's Professional Military Education includes: Sergeants Course, Advanced Administration Specialist Course, SNCO Advanced Course, MSgt and 1stSgt Seminar, and 1stSgt's Course, Marine Security Guard School, Martial Arts Instructors Course, Senior Enlisted Legal course, Joint Senior Enlisted PME I and II, Senior Enlisted PME (SEPME), Army Sergeants Majors Course, and a Bachelors in Leadership and Work Force Development .

Sergeant Major Cain's personal awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3d Award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2d Award), and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
