KC-130J FRD Senior Enlisted Advisor
Master Gunnery Sergeant Paul N. Folk

Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk reported to MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina for recruit training in December 2001. Upon graduation, he attended Marine Corps Combat Training and was transferred to Marine Corps Motor Transportation School at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, where he received training in the MOS 3531 Motor Transport Operator. He was promoted to Private First Class on April 1st 2002. Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk graduated the Motor Transport Operators course with honors and received a meritorious promotion to Lance Corporal on the 11th of April 2002. He volunteered to attend the MOS 3533 Logistics Vehicle Operators Course and earned the MOS of 3533, and then reported to Support Company, 2nd Transportation Support Battalion, 2nd FSSG, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for duty. He served as an LVS operator, and deployed ahead of the Battalion to Shuaiba Port, Kuwait in January 2003 to offload Maritime Prepositioning Ships. He later joined 2nd Transportation Support Battalion at Camp Fox Kuwait in March 2003 for the invasion into Iraq. After establishing Camp Viper in Iraq, he was selected to operate a civilian fuel tanker, and spent the rest of his time in Iraq supporting the logistics train from Kuwait to the forward operating bases moving fuel and living out of his Semi Tractor. During the Battalions retrograded from Camp Viper he was promoted to the rank of Corporal in August 2003. Upon return from deployment Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk served as the Company Training NCO and was transferred to Charlie Company for another deployment to Iraq in August 2004. During the second deployment he served as Squad Leader, Automatic Weapons Instructor, and participated in convoy operation out of Al-Taqaddum Iraq. After his return he was promoted to Sergeant in September 2005.

In 2005, Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk reenlisted and executed a lateral move to MOS 6276 Fixed wing Crew Chief. He attended Naval Aircrewman School, as well as the Aviation Machinists Mate course at Naval Air Station Pensacola Florida. He then attended the CNATT Course for KC130J Crew Chief at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. Upon completion he reported to VMGR 252 at Cherry Point where he served as a KC130J Crew Chief. Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk deployed to Al Asad, Iraq with VMGR 252 from February 2008 to August 2008. Prior to his return he obtained the qualification of Crew Chief level 2. After returning he immediately began workups for another deployment back to Iraq. During his six months home, he obtained Crew Chief level 1, Taxi and Turn-up certification, and became an Assistant NATOPS Instructor. He returned to Al Asad from February 2009 to August 2009. In January 2010 Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk reported to Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, to attend the Loadmaster Initial Qualification Course and the Loadmaster Mission Qualification course to facilitate the merging of the 7382 KC130J Loadmaster MOS into the 6276 Crew Chief MOS. Upon completion he returned to VMGR 252 as one of the first Crewmasters. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in October 2010. Selected to deploy on the KC130J HARVEST HAWK he served in Afghanistan From October 2011 to June 2012, flying out of Camp Dwyer and Kandahar Air Base executing CAS and ISR ISO combat operations. He then deployed with VMGR 252 to Moron Spain from February to May in 2013 in support of SPMAGTF Crisis Response.

In June 2014 Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk graduated the Basic Recruiters Course, and reported to Recruiting Station Cleveland in July 2014 for recruiting duty. After six months as a canvassing recruiter he was selected to become the SNCOIC of Recruiting Substation Mentor OH, where he successfully led four recruiters and completed his special duty assignment. Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in August 2016. In July 2017 he reported to VMGR 152 in Iwakuni Japan where he served as the Crewmaster Division Chief, and Enlisted Aircrew Operations Chief.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk reported to the KC-130J Fleet replacement Detachment in August 2020 to serve as the KC-130J Loadmaster NATOPS Evaluator. He was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant in May 2021, and again promoted to the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant in November 2023. MGySgt Folk has served in multiple billets while at the FRD including, CRM Assistant Program Manager, Senior Enlisted Advisor, and Loadmaster Chief Instructor. In October 2023 Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk once again assumed the duties and is currently serving as the KC-130J Fleet Replacement Detachment Senior Enlisted Advisor.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Folk's personal decorations include 20 Air Medals, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one Gold Star.
