MAG-14 Command Senior Enlisted Leader
Sergeant Major C. Derrick Battle

Sergeant Major Battle reported to MCRD Parris Island on 3 September 2002.  Upon completion of basic training, Recruit Battle was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).  He reported to and graduated from Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Geiger, NC in January of 2003.  That same month, PFC Battle departed North Carolina for Twentynine Palms, CA where he attended the Marine Corps Communications-Electronics School and attained the MOS of Tactical Data Network Specialist.  

In June of 2003, Private First Class Battle reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 271 aboard Cherry Point, NC for his first tour of duty.  He was promoted to the ranks of lance corporal, corporal, and sergeant while serving with the MWSS and he deployed to OIF III from February to September 2005. 

Sergeant Battle executed orders to HMX-1, Quantico, VA in July of 2006 where he served as a Presidential Communications System Operator (CSO) aboard Marine One, serving Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.  During his time serving as a Marine One CSO, Sergeant Battle was selected and promoted to the rank of staff sergeant, and he attended the Career Course aboard Quantico. 

In September of 2010, Staff Sergeant Battle and his family moved to Okinawa, Japan where he served at 3d Marine Logistics Group as the Information Management Officer.  While serving in this capacity, he supported numerous on-island exercises, as well as Cobra Gold 2013 in Thailand.  Staff Sergeant Battle was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in late 2012 and attended the Advance Course in 2013 aboard Camp Hansen, Okinawa. 

Gunnery Sergeant Battle volunteered for and reported to Marine Security Guard (MSG) School in July of 2013 and graduated that September as a Detachment Commander with distinguished honors.  He and his family moved to Vienna, Austria where he served as the MSG Detachment Commander from October of 2013 to June 2015. Gunnery Sergeant Battle completed his tour of MSG duty serving as an Instructor-Advisor (I/A) at the MSG school aboard Quantico, VA.  During his time served as an I/A, he was selected and frocked to the rank of first sergeant in July of 2016.

First Sergeant Battle executed orders to Rifle Company Lima, 3d Battalion, 23d Marines, Site-Support Montgomery, AL in August 2016, where he served as the Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant.  In the spring of 2019, First Sergeant Battle was one of three Marine First Sergeants selected to attend the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy aboard Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX.  He graduated in June 2020 with honors and earned his bachelor’s degree. Upon graduating, First Sergeant Battle executed orders to II Marine Expeditionary Force Support Battalion (MSB) in July 2020.  He served as the Company First Sergeant for the II MEF Commander’s General and Special Staff, as well as the II MSB Headquarters element.  He frocked to Sergeant Major and executed orders to 3d Marine Raider Support Battalion in June 2021.  Sergeant Major Battle executed orders to and was appointed as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of Marine Aircraft Group 14 in January 2024.

Sergeant Major Battle has a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Workforce Development, and his personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with three gold stars in lieu of fourth award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Member Award.
