VMM-365 Commanding Officer
Lieutenant Colonel Cory J. Jobst

Lieutenant Colonel Cory J. “TSATT” Jobst was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia and raised in Southern California. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2005. First Lieutenant Jobst was designated a Naval Aviator in 2009 and reported to Camp Pendleton, California for initial fleet replacement training in the CH-46E.

After completing initial training in 2009, he reported to Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 36, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Futenma, where he attached to Marine Medium Lift Helicopter Squadron (HMM)-262.

Appointed the Communications Officer for the Flying Tigers, Captain Jobst deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and participated in numerous exercises throughout southeastern Asia. As a Schedule Writer in Squadron Operations during the second deployment with the 31st MEU, he supported Operation TOMODACHI tsunami relief efforts in Northern Japan. On his third and final deployment with the Flying Tigers and the 31st MEU, Captain Jobst supported hurricane relief efforts in the Philippines while serving as the Flight, Current Operations, and Ground Training Officers.

Captain Jobst was selected to transition to the MV-22 and began training in 2013 at Marine Medium Lift Tiltrotor Training Squadron (VMMT)-204. After completing the MV-22 fleet replacement syllabus, he attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 365 as the Assistant Operations Officer (AOPSO).

A Blue Knight in VMM-365, Capt Jobst deployed in 2014 on the 24th MEU while serving as the Quality Assurance Officer. After deployment, he was reassigned as AOPSO and selected to attend the 2015 Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course. The next WTI course, Maj Jobst was afforded the opportunity to augment the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics School-One (MAWTS-1) instructor staff. Prior to a second deployment with VMM-365, Maj Jobst was the senior squadron planner and operations representative when he organized, planned, and deployed with VMM-365 to support Joint Task Force Matthew relief operations after Hurricane Matthew struck Haiti. During deployment with the 24th MEU in 2017, Major Jobst was assigned as the Aviation Combat Element (ACE) Aviation Maintenance Officer (AMO). As AMO, he supported Joint Task Force Leeward Islands relief operations in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

After the deployment, Maj Jobst received Joint Terminal Attack Controller Training at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story and in 2018 was assigned to II MEF Expeditionary Operations Training Group (EOTG) on Camp Lejeune as the Aviation Officer. Shortly after joining EOTG, he assumed the duties and responsibilities of Operations Officer (OPSO). During his tour as OPSO, he successfully completed the 22nd, 24th, and 26th MEU Pre-Deployment Training Plans, exercises, and certifications.

In 2021, Maj Jobst was assigned to Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&A) in Quantico, Virginia as the Marine Corps' only Officer Career Counselor. Lieutenant Colonel Jobst received and executed follow-on orders to MCAS New River, assuming command of the VMM-365 Blue Knights in the summer of 2022. 

Lieutenant Colonel Jobst has logged more than 2,100 flight hours. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
