Sergeant Major Nicholas C. Elliott

Nicholas C. Elliott is a native of New Castle, Delaware. He enlisted into the Marine Corps in September 1999 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina.

Sergeant Major Elliott then proceeded to Camp Pendleton, California where he attended the Amphibious Assault Crewman Course. Following graduation, he obtained the Military Occupational Specialty of 1833, Amphibious Assault Crewman, and received orders to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina with 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion, Charlie Company, as an Amphibian Assault Vehicle Crewman. 

In 2001, Sergeant Major Elliott deployed aboard the USS Carter Hall with Battalion Landing Team (BLT), 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in support of operations in the Adriatic Sea. During the deployment, he participated in OPERATION RAPID CHEETAH in Kosovo. Upon return, he was promoted to Corporal and served as AAV Crew Chief.

He deployed again in 2003 as Mortar Section Leader, aboard the USS Ponce with the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, as part of Task Force Tarawa, attached to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines, in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM(OIF). Upon returning, Sergeant Major Elliott was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as AAV Section Leader.

Sergeant Major Elliott deployed to Louisiana in 2005 in support of humanitarian relief efforts to hurricane victims, as part of Task Force Karina. The following year, he deployed aboard the USS Whidbey Island with Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of operations in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf. During the deployment, Sergeant Major Elliott participated in Noncombatant Evacuation Operations (NEO) in Beirut, Lebanon. Sergeant Major Elliott was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and served as Platoon Sergeant upon retuning.

In 2008, Sergeant Major Elliott was transferred to Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. Upon completion of Detachment Commander School, he was assigned to Marine Security Guard Detachment, Manama, Bahrain where he served until 2010. In 2010, he was transfer to Marine Security Guard Detachment Tallinn, Estonia and served as Detachment Commander. He was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in July 2011.

Sergeant Major Elliott received orders in 2011 to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina with 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion, where he was assigned to Bravo Company, 3rd Platoon, as Platoon Sergeant. During his assignment, he was augmented out as a Marine Advisor with the Advisor Training Group, where he served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Combat Replacement Team. Upon his return to the battalion, Sergeant Major Elliott served as the Battalion Training Chief.

Promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in 2015, Sergeant Major Elliott received orders to the School of Infantry, Infantry Training Battalion, Company B, where he served as Company First Sergeant. During his assignment, First Sergeant Elliott was hand selected to stand up Company M, a new training company within the School of Infantry.

In 2016, Sergeant Major Elliott received orders to Region 1, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, where he served as Region First Sergeant for 19 Marine Security Guard Detachments in 16 countries across Eastern Europe and Eurasia. He was promoted to his current rank in March 2019 and received orders to 5th Battalion, 11th Marines to serve as the Battalion Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Elliott received orders to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines Sergeant Major in February 2021 and deployed in August 2021 as Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of operations in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Aden.

In July 2022, Sergeant Major Elliott assumed his current position as Squadron Sergeant Major of Marine Aviation Logistic Squadron 31.

Sergeant Major Elliott's awards and personal decorations include the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with 1 gold stars in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of third award, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Clayton B. Vogel Leadership Award.
