Command Biography
MALS-31 Executive Officer
Major Brandon L. Kneemiller

Major Kneemiller is a native of Pensacola, FL. He graduated from Officer Candidate School Platoon Leaders Course in 2008. Major Kneemiller was commissioned in April 2009 and attended The Basic School, and subsequently reported to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola for Aviation Preflight Indoctrination. While in flight training he was attached to VT-2 at NAS Whiting Field. He was later re-designated as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer in 2010. 

First Lieutenant Kneemiller reported to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, CA, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron-11 (MALS-11) and served as the Ground Support Equipment Officer. In 2012, he reported to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron-232 (VMFA-232) where he served as the Material Control Officer and Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer. In September 2013, Captain Kneemiller deployed with VMFA-232 on the Unit Deployment Program to MCAS Iwakuni, JP. He participated in Exercises: PHIBLEX, Philippines, Cobra Gold 2013, Thailand, Max Thunder, Korea, and Forager Fury II, Guam. In January 2015, Captain Kneemiller reported to MALS-11, where he was assigned as the Power Plants Officer.

In June 2015, Captain Kneemiller reported to MCAS Iwakuni, JP, MALS-12, where he served as the Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer and Assistant Operations Officer. He participated in Exercises: Beverly Bulldog and Max Thunder, Korea, and Forager Fury and Valiant Shield, Guam. In 2018, Captain Kneemiller was selected on the Commandant’s Career-Level Education Board to attend academic year 2019 Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA. After completing resident school, he was assigned to United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM) in Stuttgart, Germany.    

While at USAFRICOM, Major Kneemiller served in the J0 Chief of Staff Directorate as the Chief of Theater Outreach. He was later assigned under the J5 Strategy, Engagement and Programs Directorate as the Deputy in the newly minted Strategic Engagements Branch. 

In 2021, Major Kneemiller was assigned to MALS-31 MCAS Beaufort, SC as the Operations Officer. Major Kneemiller assumed his current duties as the Executive Officer in June 2022.   

Major Kneemiller holds a Masters of Administrative Leadership from The University of Oklahoma and a Bachelors in Business Administration from University of West Florida. He is a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and a graduate of the Joint & Combined Warfighting School.

Major Kneemiller’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of second award).
