Lieutenant Colonel Charles C. Randolph commissioned on 28 May 2010, through the United States Naval Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Oceanography. After graduating from The Basic School with Golf Company on 31 March 201 I, he began flight school at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, FL. During his flight training between NAS Whiting Field and NAS Corpus Christi, he trained in the T-6B, TH-57B, and TC-12B aircraft. Lieutenant Colonel Randolph earned his designation as a Naval Aviator on 26 May 2013 and then proceeded to initial training in the MV-22B at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River, NC.
Upon completion of initial training in the MV-22B in November of 2013, Lieutenant Colonel Randolph received orders to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (VMM-265) aboard MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, and reported in January 2014. At VMM-265 he deployed on various exercises throughout Southeast Asia, Oceana, and Australia with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) 15.2, 16.1, 17 .2, and 18.1 patrols in addition to various other bilateral exercises across Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines with Marine Aircraft Group 36. During his tour at VMM-265, he served as the Ground Safety Officer, S-5/Special Services Officer, Future Operations Officer, Flight Line Division Officer, Flight Officer, and Pilot Training Officer (PTO). In April of 2017, he attended Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 2-17 and subsequently served as the PTO for two deployments during the remainder of his time at VMM-265.
In July of 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Randolph reported to 1st Air-Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO) on Camp Pendleton, CA and attended Tactical Air Control Party School at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado shortly, thereafter, graduating in August 2018. While at 1st ANGLICO, he held the billets of 2nd Brigade Platoon Air Officer, 1st Brigade Platoon Commander, and Small Unmanned Aerial Systems Program Manager, and was designated as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller and Joint Fires Observer-Evaluator.
In December of 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Randolph reported to the 20th Special Operations Squadron (SOS) at Cannon Air Force Base, NM as an exchange officer with U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command, flying the CV-22B. While at the 20th SOS, he served as an Assistant Director of Operations, the Director of Operations through the DoW wide V-22 Red-Stripe, and briefly as the acting Squadron Commander from December 2025 to January 2026. Lieutenant Colonel Randolph also deployed again to Africa as part of a PRTF supporting combat operations in southern Somalia from October 2024 to March 2025.
During his career, Lieutenant Colonel Randolph has had extensive experience in the V-22. He has flown 1,650 hours in the MV-22B, 320 hours in the CV-22B, and accrued over 600 hours of night vision goggle time and 60 hours of combat time. He has earned designations as a Flight Lead, Air Mission Commander, Weapons and Tactics Instructor, Night Systems Instructor, Assistant NATOPS Instructor, Instrument Evaluator, and Flight Leadership Standardization Evaluator in the MV-22B, and Basic Aircraft Commander, Mission Aircraft Commander, and Instructor Pilot in the CV-22B.
Lieutenant Colonel Randolph's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award), and the Air Force Commendation Medal.
