Sergeant Major Kyle H. Guppy

Sergeant Major Guppy a native of West Monroe, New York, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 25 August 2003 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. He then attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. That same year, he attended Personnel Administration School, Camp Johnson, North Carolina and was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty 0151, Administrative Clerk. 

In March 2004, Private First Class Guppy reported to Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and was assigned to the Base Personnel Administration Center, G-1 Adjutant Section and served as an Individual Augment assigned to the J-1, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida. In June 2006, Corporal Guppy deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM and was assigned to the Multi-National Security Transition Command  - Iraq.

In April 2007, Corporal Guppy reported to Marine Aircraft Group 31, Beaufort, South Carolina where he served as the Adjutant Chief. During this tour, he took part in exercise Desert Talon and graduated from the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Course becoming a 1st Degree Black Belt Marital Arts Instructor.

In January 2010, Sergeant Guppy reported to the Office of the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Washington, D.C. and served as an Administrative Staff Noncommissioned Officer on the 34th and 35th Commandant of the Marine Corps' staff. During this tour he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. In January 2014 he reported to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.

In March 2014, Staff Sergeant Guppy graduated from Drill Instructor School and was assigned to 1st Recruit Training Battalion. He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant on 1 January 2017 and served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor for Companies A, B, and D, the Battalion Operations Officer, and Headquarters Company First Sergeant. 

In May 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Guppy reported to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as the Administrative Chief and deployed in support of Forward Deployed Battalion - East 17.2 from August 2017 to February 2018 and to Setermoen, Norway in support of Marine Rotational Force - Europe 19.2 from March 2019 to September 2019. 

In June 2020, Gunnery Sergeant Guppy was transferred to Marine Aircraft Group 29, Marine Corps Air Station, New River, North Carolina for duty as the Group Administrative Chief. He was frocked to First Sergeant in May 2021. 

In June 2021, First Sergeant Guppy reported to 3d Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment and was assigned as the Battery I, Site Support Unit Senior Enlisted Leader, Allentown, Pennsylvania. He was frocked to Sergeant Major in June 2024. 

In August 2024, Sergeant Major Guppy reported to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 461, Marine Aircraft Group 29, Marine Corps Air Station, New River, North Carolina for duty as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

Sergeant Major Guppy's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 gold stars in lieu of 4th award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness from Purdue University Global.
