Maj David Schwab is a native of Friona, Texas. He attended Oklahoma State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in November of 2014.
After The Basic School, he reported to Naval Air Training Command in Pensacola, Florida and was designated a Naval Aviator in December 2017. He then reported to Marine Heavy Helicopter Training Squadron (HMHT) 302, Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 29, at MCAS New River, North Carolina, for training in the CH-53E Super Stallion. His first fleet appointment was with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 465 from 2018 to 2022 deploying twice in support of Unit Deployment Program 19.1 and 21.1 in Okinawa, Japan. During this time he served as a schedule writer, Flight Equipment Division Officer, Flightline Division Officer, Aviation Safety Officer, and Current Operations Officer.
In May 2022, Maj Schwab received order to Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron (VMX) 1, CH-53K King Stallion detachment aboard MCAS New River. Maj Schwab served as the Director of Safety and Standardization, Supply Officer, Aviation Safety Officer and Operations Officer for periods of Initial Operational Test and Evaluation, Secondary Missions testing, and Follow on Test and Evaluation of the CH-53K.
In June of 2024, Maj Schwab reported to MAG-29, at MCAS New River, North Carolina where he served as the Director of Safety and Standardization, CH-53K Transition lead and Core Cadre OIC.
In December 2024, Maj Schwab joined HMHT-302 as the Core Cadre OIC in preparation of the CH-53K transition and assumed the role of HMHT-302 Executive Officer.
Maj Schwab’s personal decorations include the Air Medal Individual Action, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various service medals.
