Sergeant Major Zane E. Moorman assumed his current post as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 365 in March 2025.
Sergeant Major Moorman is a native of Georgia and enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 2006. Upon graduation, he reported to Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, NC, for Marine Combat Training. Following MCT, he reported to the Field Radio Operator School at 29 Palms, CA, where he was assigned the military occupational specialty 0621.
Sergeant Major Moorman’s assignments in the Fleet Marine Force include: Radio Operator, HQs Battery, 12th Marines (Aug 06 – Jan 09); Radio Supervisor and Platoon Sergeant, 1st Battalion, 6th Marines (Jan 09 – Jan 11); Radio Chief and Company Gunnery Sergeant, Combat Logistics Battalion 6 (Sep 12 – Oct 14); Transmissions Chief and Company Gunnery Sergeant, 9th Communication Battalion (Jun 18 – Feb 20); Unit Senior Enlisted Leader, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines (Feb 20 – Jun 21) and 1st Marine Raider Battalion (Jul 21 – Feb 23) Command Senior Enlisted Leader, II MEF Support Battalion (Mar 23 – Mar 25).
Sergeant Major Moorman’s deployments include: Embedded Training Team 4-3, Regional Corps Advisory Command-Central, 201st Corps in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; 1st Battalion, 6th Marines in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; Combat Logistics Battalion 6 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit; Marine Special Operations Company D in support of Operation OCTAVE QUARTZ.
SgtMaj Moorman's tours of duty in the supporting establishment include: Drill Instructor, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (Jan 11 - Sep 12); and Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Chief Drill Instructor, and Regimental Drill Master (Oct 14 - Jun 18).
