Major Brandon D. Galang is from Antioch, CA. He graduated from San Jose State University in 2010 and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2011 via the Platoon Leaders Class program.
Following The Basic School and the Air Defense Officer Class (ADCOC), he was assigned to Marine Air Control Squadron 1, Yuma, AZ in June 2012. During this tour, Lieutenant Galang served as Simulation Cell OIC, Weapons Tactics Techniques Program (WTTP) OIC, and as the Weapons Director in support of the Combined Defense of the Arabian Gulf (CDAG), and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). In 2014, he served as a Current Operations Officer ISO Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) with Marine Aircraft Group 50.
In July 2015, he transferred to Marine Air Control Squadron 2. During this tour, he served as the Development and Testing OIC for the Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S), Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI), and the Detachment Commander for the Tactical Air Operations Center. Additionally, in 2017 Captain Galang deployed as the OIC for MACS-2 Marines and as the Weapons Director for the USAF 727 Expeditionary Air Control Squadron “Kingpin” supporting OIR, OEF, and CDAG.
From July 2018 to December 2018, Captain Galang attended the Air Defense Artillery Captain’s Career Course (ADA CCC) at Fort Sill, OK. From January 2019 to July 2022, Major Galang served as the Deputy Senior Marine for Naval Education and Training Command and the Marine Representative to the NROTC Program for Naval Service Training Command at Pensacola, FL. From July 2022 to June 2023, Major Galang was a student at the USAF Air Command and Staff College (ACSC) at Montgomery, AL.
Major Galang checked in to MACG-28 in June 2023 and served as the Assistant Operations Officer, Plans Officer, and Future Operations Officer until May 2024. He also served as the MACG-28 lead planner and MAGTF Command Element Future Operations Officer for Nordic Response 24. From May 2024 to January 2025, he served as the Operations Officer for MACG-28 and from January to July 2025 he served as the MACG-28 Formidable Shield 25 OIC and lead planner.
Major Galang was the honor graduate for ADCOC 2-12, is a graduate of Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course, Multi-Tactical Data Link (TDL) Advanced Joint Interoperability Course (JT-102) , Multi-TDL Planners Course (JT-201), is a distinguished graduate of the ADA CCC course, is a graduate of ACSC, and is graduate of the Joint Air Operations Planner Course.
Major Galang has a bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University and two master’s degrees - one in International Relations and another in Military Operational Art and Science.
Major Galang’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star.
