First Sergeant Tavaris J. Douglas is a native of Louisiana. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 29 May 2007 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. In September 2007, Private First Class Douglas attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Private First Class Douglas reported to Camp Johnson, North Carolina as a student in October of 2007 for the personnel administration course. Upon completion, he was assigned the MOS of 0151.
After graduation, he reported to IPAC, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, California for duty. Lance Corporal Douglas was promoted in February of 2008. He conducted two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008 and 2009 with 1st Marine Division G-1. Upon his return he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal.
Corporal Douglas received orders to Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Quantico, Virginia in June 2009 and reported for duty as the operations clerk. There he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he held numerous billets as the Commanding General's driver, Color Sergeant, and Enlisted Operations Waivers Chief.
In January of 2013, Sergeant Douglas reported to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, Camp Horno, California for duty as the S-1 Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge. He deployed aboard the USS New Orleans during the 13th MEU in 2014. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in January of 2015 and became the battalion's Administrative Chief during the Marine Rotational Force deployment to Darwin, Australia.
In March of 2016 Staff Sergeant Douglas reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California for Recruiter School. Upon graduation, he reported to his Recruiting Sub Station in Brandon, Florida. As a canvassing Recruiter, Staff Sergeant Douglas positively impacted his community and was selected to represent Recruiting Station Tampa as the assistant MEPS Liaison. Gunnery Sergeant Douglas was promoted in February of 2018.
After a successful tour of Recruiting, Gunnery Sergeant Douglas reported to 3d Marine Regiment, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii in July of 2019 where he served as the Regimental Administrative Chief.
Gunnery Sergeant Douglas received orders to 3d Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan and reported for duty to the G-1 Quality Assurance section. First Sergeant Douglas was frocked on 8 Dec 2022 and transferred to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan on 9 December 2022 as the Bravo Company First Sergeant. In June of 2023, First Sergeant Douglas was appointed as the Headquarters & Service Company First Sergeant, 3d Reconnaissance Battalion.
First Sergeant Douglas reported to his current billet as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant, 2d Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division on 11 July 2025.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 1 gold star in lieu of 2nd award and the Army Achievement Medal.
