Command Biography

MACS-2 Executive Officer
Major Brandon M. Johnson

Maj Johnson is a native of Prior Lake, Minnesota and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Stout with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Minor in Project Management. Maj Johnson received his commission upon graduating Officer Candidates Course in March 2017. After completion of The Basic School in September 2017, he reported to Officer Candidates Course as an augment instructor. In January 2018, he attended Air Support Control Officer's Course aboard Marine Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California and was designated the Military Occupational Specialty of 7208 Air Support Control Officer.

In May 2018, 2ndLt Johnson reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 3 aboard Camp Pendleton, California. He served in the billets of Substance Abuse Control Officer, Platoon Commander, and Adjutant. He took part in numerous exercises to include four Integrated Training Exercises, a Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, and served as the Officer-in-Charge for a detachment in support of exercise Northern Edge embedding with the 962nd Airborne Air Control Squadron in Alaska. In August 2021, Captain Johnson deployed with VMM-165 (REIN) under the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Air Support Element Officer-in-Charge supporting operations in both INDOPACOM and CENTCOM. 

In July 2022, Captain Johnson reported to Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 28. Upon deactivation of MTACS-28 in December 2022, he reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 1 and served as the Charlie Company Executive Officer. In February 2024, Captain Johnson participated as Officer-in-Charge of the Marine Air Support Squadron 1 detachment in support of exercise Nordic Response 24. From June 2024 to July 2025, he served as the Headquarters and Services Company Commander.

In July 2025, Captain Johnson reported to Marine Air Control Group 28. He served as the Future Operations Officer. From September 2025 to April 2026, Captain Johnson was assigned to Joint Task Force 84-2 Headquarters as the Aviation Command and Control Planner for OPERATION SOUTHERN SPEAR. Maj Johnson was assigned as Marine Air Control Squadron 2 Executive Officer in May 2026.

Maj Johnson is a graduate of Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 1-25 and Expeditionary Warfare School Blended Seminar Program.

Maj Johnson's personal decorations include the Joint Service Achievement Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star.
