MCAS Cherry Point, NC, United States -- Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2 Family Fun Day was an opportunity for Marines and Sailors to build camaraderie throughout the unit at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, August 20, 2019. This event, hosted by Lt. Col. Gregory P. DeMarco, commanding officer, and MWHS-2 Sergeant Major, Sgt. Maj. Rodney E. Nevinger, builds unit cohesion through family bonding and boosts unit morale and promotes camaraderie.
Building strong bonds within a unit can be a difficult task, but has impactful results. This family fun day brought service members within the unit and their families together into a low stress environment away from the workplace. The family fun day featured a barbeque, waterslide, a bounce house for kids, and a dunk tank where Marines and Sailors were given the opportunity to dunk the commanding officer and sergeant major.
Marines, Sailors and their families spent the afternoon surrounded by friendly faces and good company. This family fun day highlights the importance of fellowship within the Marine Corps that lasts a lifetime.
