The Deuce waves 'Snake Eyes' in Al Asad

2 May 2005 | - 2nd MAW Public Affairs Office (Forward) 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing

Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2 deployed its unit’s flag here May 2.

The new flag bears the squadron’s new logo ‘Snake Eyes’.  Commonly referred to as, "The Deuce", the unit arrived in Iraq in mid February, and supports combat operations in the Al Anbar province.

This deployment, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, marks the first time in the unit’s 60-year history that it has deployed, in combat, as an entire unit.  The Deuce supports the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward) and is comprised of more than 20 different military operational specialties, ranging from administration and logistics, to intelligence and food service.

This squadron, as all deployed Marines and sailors, are committed to the Global War on Terrorism and to meeting the Nation’s security challenges.
