MWHS-2 welcomes Vealey as new Sgt. Maj.

Sergeant Maj.  James D. Vealey was appointed as  the Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2 sergeant major during a ceremony here, July 21.

Vealey previously served as the battalion sergeant major with Combat Logistics Battalion 3, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

“I am looking forward to leading the Marines of the squadron and being part of the MWHS-2 family,” said Vealey. “MWHS-2 has a reputation of outstanding service to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing that I am honored to be a part.”

According to Vealey, he is looking forward to adding to 2nd Maw’s history, as this is his first tour serving with the air wing.

“Guiding these Marines will be a learning experience for them and myself,” explained Vealey. “We have a lot to learn from one another. I strongly believe together we can maintain and achieve new levels of readiness for the squadron.”

Sgt. Maj. Vealey will be an outstanding new edition to the MWHS-2 family, said Lt. Col. William R. DeLorenzo, the MWHS-2 commanding officer. The leadership and experience he posseses will bring a different perspective to the Marines of the squadron, he added.

“Sgt. Maj. Vealey will continue our MWHS-2 traditions and help us maintain our standards throughout the squadron. His contributions to the unit will leave a mark on our squadron’s
