AN NUMANIYAH, Iraq ? Sergeant Charles Evanson, motor transportation mechanic, explains corridor-clearing procedures to Iraqi soldiers while Cpl. John Perkins, artillery support coordinator, and Gunnery Sgt. Karl Garrett, communications repairman, demonstrate how to provide security. Iraqi Army Lt. Col. Abdul Salam, 1st Battalion commanding officer, observes closely. Several 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward) Marines in a Military Transition Team have been training the Iraqis to be combat-ready.
