Marines with Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 2, Marine Aircraft Group 14, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, conduct a series of inspections on the RQ-7B Shadow unmanned aerial vehicle and its launching system minutes before takeoff aboard Hurlburt Field, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, Feb. 5, 2015. VMU-2 flew the Shadow UAV as part of a training exercise and to provide aerial support to Marines Special Operations Command training in the surrounding area. William Mahoney received the Air Medal during a ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Feb. 12, 2015, for his actions during an aircraft malfunction of his front landing gear while flying missions in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations to augment U.S. Crisis Response forces while serving as an AV-8B Harrier pilot assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 263 (Reinforced), 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, aboard the USS Bataan, at sea, June 2014.
